Panel and Link Up – Online Community

This week we asked our panel to share how they found The Homeschool Village. It’s so interesting to see all the different roads that have brought us together. Whether it was through Facebook, Twitter, blogs or something else, we are so thankful they found us! And we’re thankful you did too!

Melissa ~ I don’t really remember how I found the HSV site. I am sure it was from another homeschooling blog that had grabbed the button and I clicked on it. I do know that once I found HSV, I can’t stop coming back!

April ~ I was introduced to HSV through Facebook. Some of my friends had “liked” HSV, and I decided to check it out. One thing that really impressed me was that they setup a way for homeschoolers to connect by region – what a great value that is! Both national and local friends help any homeschooling parent face the tough days and share the great ones. I’m very glad to have found HSV!

Mary ~ I actually found out about the Homeschool Village through Rebecca (another panel member!) of Mom’s Mustard Seeds. I noticed she was linking up to the HSV and making posts about it, so I decided to check it out, as well!

Jessica ~ I was introduced with the HSV through Facebook. I have a variety of homeschool friends, networks, & pages that I participate in to feel connected to other homeschool moms, I value their knowledge & wisdom. I live overseas in a small community that provides little to no homeschool support. I am thankful for The Homeschool Village because of the panelists and friends that subscribe to The HSV and participate. I would have to say that all who participate are a blessing to me!

Melanie ~ Would you believe that I honestly don’t remember? I’m sure it was a link from somebody else’s blog, but I couldn’t for a second tell you whose. It seems this year that I am finding so many encouraging blogs and people through linkups and I so appreciate it! It’s nice to know that whatever kind of day I’m having, someone else has been there and can encourage me through it or laugh with me, and I find that it’s a huge blessing to be able to return the favor.

Rebecca ~ I really do not remember how I was introduced to The Homeschool Village. I do remember enjoying reading the comments by the panel and the contributors, the subjects of the links and the community’s desire to provide good information to homeschoolers that is respectful to others.

Tonya ~ I actually heard about the HSV through Twitter. Several of my Twitter friends were serving on that first panel. I love to discover all things homeschooling so I thought I’d take a peek at the link they posted and I’ve been hooked ever since!

Jenn ~ I think, if my memory is right, that I was introduced to HSV through one of the founders, Stef Layton. It was probably through her twitter feed that I first heard about it. I cherish my connections to other homeschool parents- I think we are in a unique position in life, and that we can learn from and encourage each other so much. I have found twitter to be a great resource for finding and connecting to other homeschoolers.

Maggie ~ I found the Homeschool Village on Twitter. I immediately went to the website and was very blessed by what I found! I love having a great homeschooling community to interact with! Thanks HSV!

Lisa ~ I was introduced to HSV through The Well Trained Mind Forums (my teacher’s lounge). Someone posted about it there and I quickly checked it out to find lots happening!

Shannon ~ The first time I came across the HSV was after reading another blog in my reader. I think it took several Thursdays before I remembered to post, though. In fact, one time I posted a blog post to link up and when I went to actually link it up, the Mr. Linky was already closed. I’m so glad I kept trying!

Now it’s time for you to share and link up about why you’re thankful for online communities! Do you love making connections, sharing knowledge or just socializing in your jammies? Have you ever received special encouragement or support from online communities? Do share!
If you are new to the link up please read the participation guidelines and grab a button!
Next week we’re spreading the homeschool love and talking thankfulness. Is there a special homeschooler you’d like to thank?
