Review: Fitness 4 Homeschool

“When it’s your turn I’ll cheer you on.”  My little one claps his hands and smiles up into his brother’s eyes. Focused times of family fitness produce lessons and results which may warm your heart in more ways than one.

Fitness 4 Homeschool Physical Education Curriculum

While our family has always enjoyed living a physically active lifestyle, I have more than once set out to find a way to provide a more focused time of fitness education, including measurable progress tools.  The goal of Fitness 4 Homeschool – Physical Education Curriculum by Family Time Fitness is precisely that.  The Fitness 4 Homeschool program:

  • is easy to implement
  • requires little preparation
  • provides downloadable assessment tools
  • encourages through daily emails
  • calls for basic equipment.

Are your children achieving recommended time and intensity levels for daily physical activity?

“ The National Association of Sport and Physical Education recommends that most children 2 years and older need to be getting at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity daily.”

At the beginning of each month Fitness 4 Homeschool participants receive 20 emailed lessons ready to provide your child not only the innumerable benefits of exercise… but a healthy dose of laughter, too. (Did you know that laughter can boost your immune system for up to three days?!)

Each lesson is packed with fun activities to get your family moving and having a good time together, including phases of warm up, activity/game play, cool down and a suggested outdoor activity.  Activities are thoroughly outlined in print, but online video links are also provided for extra demonstration.

Think warm-up stretches are mundane?  Not a chance!  Lie on your back, gaze at the sky and trace the alphabet in the air with your foot!  Ready to get moving?  Create an agility course in your yard.  Don’t have cones? Use your imagination! Tree stumps, rocks, boxes and buckets can mark your course! Not challenging enough yet? Try doing it backward… in a bear crawl!  Still not laughing and panting a bit?  Face off, grab shoulders and try a round of toe fencing!  I’m pretty sure you’ll hit that three-day immune system boost from laughing in no time!  And before you know it you and your children will have measurable physical improvement.

Wait! Did I just say “you”?! Yes! Come on! Your children will be as enthusiastic about physical fitness as you are! Using the “guided discovery” approach highlighted by Family Time Fitness, you can set the upbeat pace and attitude for your family.  You’ll provide a brief explanation and demonstration of each activity, but allow your children to discover the movements in their unique ways.  As your family progresses, you will find them more adeptly following your model.

You will also receive extra aids to get your family well on your way to reaching your fitness goals, including:

  • assessment test
  • tracking calendar
  • food diary
  • grocery list
  • meal planner
  • nutrition log

A quick glance around the garage, yard or toy box will likely yield most everything you need to get going… and for what you may not have, Family Time Fitness provides great on-hand alternatives.  For example, use rolled up socks instead of bean bags.  You can do this!

Your family will thank you.

  1. We are having fun with the curriculum and I’m happy to have had the chance to review — although my body was not thanking me on the day of the frog squats! :-)

  2. With six kiddos and not a clue what to do for physical fitness I would LOVE to have this!! Thanks for a great review and opportunity to win! :)

  3. This would be great for us! One downfall I have noticed to homeschooling is that this winter my little one has really put on some pounds from inactivity. At school she was getting regular P.E. time and activity. Not so much at home. This would be a great way to keep her active!

  4. Nicole patterson says:

This is a area that we need help with around here.

  5. Nice! I’d love to have something like this for my boys. They’re always so full of extra energy!

  6. Nikki Maddox says:

We will start homeschooling for the first time this year! I’m sure this would be a tremendous help!

  7. Mommy of 3 says:

I would LOVE to win this! We have unstructured outside play. I would love to have a vision and structured purpose for our physical activity and actually call it P.E.!!

  8. Melanie Joerger says:

    Hello,
I sure enjoyed your review. I’ve been checking into this fitness curriculum and would think it a huge blessing to get a year free! It looks like something that we could actually make happen in our homeschool day and we really do desire for the children to acquire coordination and the habit of daily physical activity.
    Thanks for providing this opportunity!
    Sincerely,
    Melanie

  9. This looks like a lot of !

  10. Christi Deal says:

We have always been on a tight budget when it comes to homeschooling. We currently don’t even figure in anything but necessities, so this would be a GREAT addition to our daily routine!

  11. I hate to say it but other than weekly karate, my girls don’t get much PE… This would be cool!

  12. This program sounds like just what we need. My daughter asks to start with PE everyday of homeschool and I do not have a structured program for that.

It would be a blessing to win one of these programs! Thanks for the opportunity!

  13. Mitzi Dixon says:

Sounds like a neat program! Would love to give it a try!!!

  14. Looks awesome! Homeschooling mom of 3 here, and your newest GFC Villager (mandiana). :)

looks really great! I would love to give this a try to add a little more fun and movement to our day.

  17. What a fantastic resource! Thanks for putting this out there for us. New ways to move and get the kids laughing? Very cool!

  18. Thanks for the post! I always thought the kids would get enough exercise just being young but our first year homeschooling has shown me how much they really need something more structured.

  19. We would love this. We currently do not have a Physical Education element to our home school. This would help work out the wiggles in the boys!

  20. Thank you so much for all the great information. I’m so thankful for all the online resources. I would love to have a PE curriculum for my son (and ME)….

  21. JohannaMD says:

Would love to be able to integrate this program into homeschooling. I can certainly see the need for something more structured. Thank you for the wonderful info!

  22. Dawn Casey says:

Most of the time, I feel like a slug! I also have no idea how to do recess :(

  23. This is one area that we definitely need help in. Thanks for the opportunity.

  24. My daughter just started homeschooling her 2 children in January, so this would be wonderful for her!

  25. I need to get my daughter involved in this. So hard get an only child enough exercise.

  26. Shavell-Ville says:

Thinking this would not only be great to get moving but a great way to hang out and have fun with our friends. Seems like if they are having ‘fun’ then it won’t feel like work :D

  27. What a blessing this would be for our family! I know what exercises are good for me, but not what’s the best for my children who are all at different levels. This looks like a full program that they will have fun with. If they learn to love exercise now, I know it will stay with them for life. :)

  28. Would love to have this to keep up with my two boys. Always looking for new ways to keep them moving.

  29. looks like a really good book

  30. This looks like a great resource! The toe fencing sounds like a blast; I think we’ll give that a shot even if we don’t win the curriculum itself.
