The HSV Writers – 2011

The Home School Village is only possible with the help of many homeschool moms!

In May of 2010 two blog friends (Stef, Educating Laytons & Susan, Prairie Lily Arts) connected via skype.  A bridge was built between two homeschool families.  These two gals, so thankful for their new friendship, immediately wanted to connect other homeschoolers.  They created a weekly meme, facebook page, twitter account, and eventually blog.

The Homeschool Village was immediately successful making connections!  Stef & Susan were surprised by the desire of other homeschoolers to connect in more than 140 twitter characters!  Stef quickly added writers to the “writing team”.  Cheryl: Somewhat Crunchy, Jennifer: Jennifer a. Janes, Jane: Mozi Esme, and Lisa: Golden Grasses eagerly signed on to write 4 posts per month and Kela: Pursing What is Excellent joined us to pray over our writing team!

The Homeschool Village continued to grow and with so many different homeschool styles, topics, and needs – it was clear to offer something for everyone The HSV would need more than 6 writers!  After one year of online bridge building The HSV added 18 more writers to the team!

Three Tuesday writers joined us to share tips Jessica: Bohemian Bowmans, Sonit: Cows Don’t Moo and Jessica: Jezamama

Three Wednesday special needs writers joined us to share encouragement, Dawn: The Momma Knows, Sandra: Celebrate Every Day and Jen: Forever, For Always, No Matter What

Four Thursday writers joined us to share Hands On Homeschooling, Marci: Overcoming Busy, Tonya: Traveling Praters, Kelly: Believing in 1, and Caroline: Under God’s Mighty Hand, and Stacey: Brain In Trainin (who shared lapbooking for a short time)

We added writers to our Friday Family schedule to share on new homeschool families, veteran homeschool families, single homeschool families, and big homeschool families! Erin: Home with the Boys, Joy: My Home in The Smokies, Susan, and Beth: Beth Sew Anyhow

We’ve added a new category for Saturdays – Something Special. Crafts by Maureen: Spell Out Loud, Literature by Jodi: Granola Mom 4 God, and Games by Jenn Daze of Adventure.  Veteran homeschool mom Shannon: Fortunate For You shares homeschool encouragement having graduated 3 homeschool gentlemen!
